40 minCooking time from 2 yAge 3–4 child portionsServings

Possible allergens: Dairy (butter)

Ingredients

  • ½ cup red lentils
  • 1 small carrot
  • ½ onion
  • 1 small potato
  • 1 l water
  • 1 tsp butter

Method

  1. Rinse the lentils several times.
  2. Chop the vegetables and put everything in a pot with the water.
  3. Simmer for 25–30 minutes until soft.
  4. Blend until smooth and stir in the butter. Use very little salt.

Note for parents: Set aside the child’s portion before adding salt and spices for adults.

Do not give children aged 2–4 small, hard, round foods (grapes, cherries, nuts) whole — they are a choking hazard. Introduce honey, nuts and other allergens in small amounts. If your child has special dietary needs, consult a doctor.
